Nishimura Orimono

We are a weaving company in Fukuoka, located in the Kyushu area of Japan,
that produces and sells Hakata-ori, known as Fukuoka's traditional handicraft.

We offer a variety of items that combine tradition and novelty,
including 100% silk obi, which is essential for wearing kimono,
as well as woven fashion items, art panels, and textiles for interior decoration.

History of Nishimura Orimono

Nishimura Orimono has the oldest history among the weavers of "Hakata-ori" in Fukuoka.
It was in 1587 that our ancestors began their activities as traders of silk yarns used as raw materials for kimonos and obis. Later, in 1861,
Gihei Nishimura, the first weaver, started manufacturing Hakata-ori in Hakata, Fukuoka.

While passing on the long tradition of silk weaving to the next generation,
we are creating a new world of "Hakata-ori" and continuing to deliver beautiful fabrics to Japan and the world.
We believe that this is our mission, and we will continue to pursue it

With the world's finest silk

Nishimura Orimono weaves silk yarns. The main silk yarns we deal in are those of the Brazilian company Bratac.
The company is a silk manufacturer established by a Japanese who came to Brazil in the early 1900's.
The company is known for its integrated production of silk yarn and brataca. Brataxil silk, an integrated production silk yarn,
is said to have very few knots as a natural fiber, and its shining whiteness and fineness are said to be attractive.

Brataxil silk boasts the world's finest quality and is loved by luxury brands. As an authorized weaver,
Nishimura Orimono has long history of trade with Bratac.

Our Projects

Nishimura Orimono is not limited to traditional Japanese textiles such as kimono obi,
but also actively operates its own brand "ObitO" and collaborates with apparel makers with an awareness of upcycling silk threads.

In recent years, Nishimura has developed woven fabrics for wallpaper, interior decoration, art panels, etc.
Nishimura's fabrics are also used in the lobby and suites of THE RITZ - CARLTON Fukuoka.
